I like where your going with this, but its really M$ you should be fighting; why should we be paying them money in order to play online ? Good comic none the less however =)

Why shouldn't we pay money for a service that is provided? We aren't entitled to free just because we are used to it. The internet is not going to stay free forever. Our generation just got lucky and got in on the free trial phase. That is coming to an end.

"The internet is not going to stay free forever" Who the crap is getting free internet? I my opinion: If I bought the system, and I bought the game, then paying an additional monthly or annual fee for the honor of multi-player is ridiculous.

Would you prefer if I said, "Things on the internet won't stay free forever." ? Did you buy the servers? Do you pay for the people who perform maintenance? Do you pay the moderators? Do you pay for the security of your card information? Well, with your $50 a year, you can say 'yes.' 50/12 = $4.17/per month. It's worth it.

Multi-player systems don't need to be that complicated. Also, if I'm not paying for a subscription... What card information?

If you aren't paying a subscription, then I don't get what you are complaining about paying for. Also, that's only one thing from the list.

It's not the amount that counts, it's the victory.

Next time, pay with a check. And in the "memo" line, write "For sexual favors."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't credit card transactions take a percentage? It would be the same for $100 as $10*10.

they do charge a % but on top of that % they add a transaction fee of somewhere around 5-9 cents and if you use debit cards they charge again something like 7 cents

Yep your wrong :p There is a base amount as well to discourage lots of small transactions. microsoft could have a special agreement though.

You're wrong. Well - at least in the case of small-businesses (read: anything that doesn't deal in hundreds of thousands of dollars per day). For MS? Yeah - it's a lot easier to just deduct a percentage of the total transactions.

I believe it is a percentage, but that percentage must beat a flat minimum. So tiny transactions suck because you end up paying that minimum thats higher than the percentage.

Credit card transactions charge a percentage, plus a per-transaction fee. e.g. 2% + $0.10 per transaction. Some merchant accounts get the per transaction fee waived for the first X transactions, I've seen hundreds to several thousand. The theory is that either way way, they're either using up their 'free 'transactions or paying for them. This of course breaks down if you purchase rapidly, because they can merge transactions made in a short period of time, and it counts as one again;p

It depends on how the retailer has it set up, sometimes it's a percent, sometimes it's a flat fee.

Transaction Fees are flat fees that are addition to the percentage fee. So, Microsoft will end up paying more.
